Your files
Your writing lives where you choose, as plain files you can open anywhere.
Where your writing lives
Where you choose: in this browser, with nothing to set up; in a folder on your computer (in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers on a computer); in a GitHub repository of your own; or in a folder in your own Google Drive. A working copy is also kept in your browser, so pages open fast and edits survive a dropped connection.
Move between them, and your project comes with you. Your writing never passes through our server. Read more

Plain files, in and out
Chapters, wiki pages and notes are Markdown, and the rest is YAML or plain text, readable by any other tool. Bring in Word, Markdown, plain text, an Obsidian vault or a Scrivener project, with a preview first. Download everything as a zip at any time. Importing

History and restore
Every chapter, wiki page and note keeps its earlier versions, wherever your project lives. Compare one with your text now, and restore all of it or one passage. Deleting anything offers Undo first. Read more

Two devices, one book
Write on your laptop, then your phone, or in another editor. Edits to different words are combined without a question. When the same words changed, you choose: keep mine, keep both, or use the other version. Your settings follow the project too. Read more
Offline, on a phone, and as an app
There is no save button. What you type is kept on your device at once and sent to your storage a moment later, so a dropped connection loses nothing. Once opened, Rescriptus opens again offline, fits a phone, and installs as an app. Read more

In six languages
Menus and buttons come in English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese. The translations are new and marked until a native speaker has checked them, and some screens are still in English. Your books can be in any language, including those that read right to left. Read more
Also: one tab at a time on a chapter, so two cannot overwrite each other; a recovery page for anything that could not be saved; a reminder to keep a copy of a book kept only in this browser.
